I’ve now helped over 20,000 students heal through the power of the breath.
But before I discovered breathwork, my mornings were a dark place to be.
Every day, on repeat, I’d wake up with a rising sense of panic, and head straight for the emails on my phone.
After a quick shower, I was out the door, straight to work, a double shot of coffee and breakfast on the go.
I was struggling badly.
But the crazy part is, nobody knew it.
Not my wife, my business partners, my employees…
Or my mom, who I share everything with. I’d become so expert at hiding my pain and bottling it all up, I even convinced myself I was ok.
But deep down I knew something wasn’t right.
One night, the stress finally caught up with me.
I broke down. Just fell to my knees and cried my eyes out for what seemed like hours.
After I was done, I felt like an 800-pound gorilla had jumped off my back.
I realized I was in trouble.
But the real breakthrough came when I was invited to try guided breathwork.
I had no idea what to expect.
But after just a few minutes of the first exercise, my whole body was tingling, my mind went still, I literally felt like I was floating off the floor.
It was one of the most euphoric moments of my life.
That was the beginning…
It taught me that it wasn't the busyness of my life that was driving me crazy.
It was the busyness of my mind.
Not only was my nervous system totally off balance, I learned that my everyday breathing was completely out of whack too.
I guess that’s obvious if you’re stressed and anxious.
But I had it backwards.
I was actually causing my own stress and anxiety BECAUSE my breathing was all over the place.
Most people don’t know this, because, of course, we breathe all day every day — but the vast majority of us are doing it wrong!
This knowledge was a total game changer for me.
If I was creating my physical, mental and emotional symptoms by breathing in a way that was keeping me in a constant state of fight or flight, I could tap into my breath to change that. Any time I wanted.
"But it’s just breathing, right? I already breathe!"
I think a lot of us feel like this at the start...
But breathwork is not “just breathing.”
Nor is it the kind of breath awareness you might practice in meditation.
It’s a method of consciously manipulating your breath. Playing with rates and ratios to directly alter what’s going on inside your body.
It’s deliberate, tailored, specific and goal oriented.
You can even use it to access new states of consciousness, where you can separate your true self from your experience of life, see your core beliefs clearly for the first time, and access transformational release.
That’s a space normally reserved for medicinal psychedelics. But here it comes without the risk, purely through breathing.
Think about it...
If you can manipulate the breath, you can manipulate your nervous system. And if you can do that, you can change your mood, stress response, concentration, clarity, focus, heart rate, stamina, digestion and even sleep.
You can release generational trauma on a cellular level. You can change your DNA!
It blew my mind how much control that gives us —
How it impacts the way we each react and respond to life. How much it frees us to express who we truly are.
If your emotions create your experience of life, but you can change your emotions whenever you want, that means you can choose how you show up to life... every single day.
You can consciously create your own transformation.
That’s a huge gift, and a huge challenge. But it’s a challenge worth accepting.
Since my first experience with breathwork, I’ve immersed myself in research, study and a daily practice that has become my new way of life.
I no longer feel stressed or overwhelmed.
I’m available to show up for my family, for my students and most importantly, for myself.
I’m full of energy, passion and excitement and my life is unrecognizably awesome. All because I was able to let go of old s**t I didn’t even know I was carrying.
And I know that if I can haul myself out of the trenches using these simple, powerful methods, I believe it’s my calling to help you do the same.
